HOW TO STAY PROTECTED AGAINST COVID 2025

DO NOT PANIC – STAY INFORMED

YOUR TRIBECA CARE MANAGER IS THERE TO HELP

The latest spike in Covid infections is, as yet, not a cause for alarm anywhere in the world as the signal to the beginning of another pandemic. Global laboratories and research scientists have identified a new variant, post the Omicron and RSV versions and there is also the development of a new vaccine. Moderna has received approval to start producing the new vaccine, in the US.

SOME DOs and DONTs TO STAY SAFE

Wearing a Mask

There is no need to wear one at home. But, if you are over the age of 65, doctors are recommending that you wear a mask in crowded areas (shopping malls. doctor’s chambers, movie halls, social gatherings). And please do wear a mask to protect others if you have flu-like symptoms yourself

Staying updated with Influenza and Pneumonia Vaccinations

Both the annual Influenza vaccine and the once-in-five-years pneumonia vaccine have proven to be helpful in preventing severe case of Covid infection and/or mitigating the severity of symptoms. If you are immune-compromised and have a history of respiratory ailments (including COPD and Emphysema), please make sure that your vaccination status is updated.

Simple Precautions

✅ Wash hands regularly. Especially after returning home from shopping or even a social visit
✅ Improve air ventilation in your home, keep windows open for fresh air and sunlight
✅ Test immediately if you feel ill, feel feverish and have a bad cold – early detection prevents spread.
✅ Avoid close contact with people when they tell you that they have been ill with flu. Delay social contact till they are fully recovered.
✅ Start twice a day salt water gargles – these are recommended by many doctors for elderly people

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET COVID?

If you have tested positive after a bout of cough, cold and fever

  • Impose a mini-quarantine of 7 days on yourself
  • Avoid contact with others at home as far as possible
  • Wear a mask when you are near them, or get them to wear a mask when they are around you
  • Stay hyderated, drink lot
  • Tell your friends and family not to visit you and please do not visit them yourself

WHEN DO YOU NEED A DOCTOR?

If You are Over 65, Take a Doctor’s Opinion about Your Flu
